Fillings
White fillings harden immediately and you can eat on them right away. Silver fillings need to harden for one hour before you can eat on them.
Sensitivity with a new filling can sometimes happen and is usually temporary. The sensitivity can be too hot, cold, or biting, and last for up to six months. If the sensitivity is remarkable or is not showing signs of improving, please call the office.
On occasion the new filling touches the opposing teeth before your actual tooth when you close your mouth. In the office, we very carefully measure your bite. Sometimes when your jaw is numb and relaxed for measurement, you do not bite the way you normally would. Later, when the effects have worn off, you may bite differently, and your new filling may feel "high." Please call the office, as a small adjustment to the filling may be necessary.
